The banking system is dependent upon fair and accurate credit reporting ; Dear CFPB, I am writing to formally lodge a complaint against Equifax regarding their refusal to assist in removing inaccurate information from my credit file that can not be verified. Despite my repeated attempts to resolve this matter directly with Equifax, they have willfully failed to comply with the requirements set forth under the Fair Credit Reporting Act ( 15 USC 1681n ). This violation of my consumer rights is causing significant distress and potential harm to my credit standing. Under 15 USC 1681n, any consumer reporting agency that willfully fails to comply with the requirements of this subchapter is liable for damages, which may include {$1000.00} per violation, actual damages sustained, punitive damages as the court may allow, and costs of action including reasonable attorney fees for any successful action to enforce this liability.Its established the need for written consent or documentation from the consumer before a financial institution can pull the individuals credit report. I am prepared to pursue legal action against Equifax for these violations and seek the appropriate damages.
