Consumer Narrative
I had auto insurance for at least XXXX consecutive years with XXXX ( now called the XXXX XXXX ) which was automatically deducted from my bank account each month. The usual amount that was deducted was {$160.00}. On XX/XX/year>, the amount deducted was {$540.00}. This increase in payment was unauthorized and without my consent, so I filed a claim with my bank, XXXX. This unauthorized deduction also caused me to cancel my policy with XXXX on XX/XX/year> via email. XXXX responded via email on XX/XX/year> and verified that I canceled my policy. However, XXXX sent me a statement on XX/XX/year> for {$540.00}. When I didnt pay, they sent me to Credit Collection Services XXXX In XX/XX/year>, I received a notice in the mail from Credit Collection Services that I owed this debt. I called Credit Collection Services on XX/XX/year> and spoke with XXXX. I told XXXX that I did not owe this debt because I canceled my car insurance on XX/XX/year>, and the bill for the car insurance was on XX/XX/year>. XXXX verified that this was true. I asked XXXX, why then do I still owe a debt? I wanted details but he did not tell me why ; he did not give me any details. He just said to fax any proof or bank statements. On XX/XX/year>, I faxed Credit Collection Services a statement from my bank, XXXX, that said they completed their investigation into the unauthorized deduction from XXXX in the amount of {$540.00}. XXXX refunded me the whole amount of {$540.00}, thus verifying the deduction from XXXX was unauthorized. In XX/XX/year>, I received a notice in the mail from Credit Collection Services, verifying that it was XXXX who charged me {$540.00} on XX/XX/year>, but they still did not give me any details on what this was from if XXXX was charging me after I canceled my policy! Credit Collection Services just lowered the amount to {$210.00}. On XX/XX/year>, I faxed Credit Collection Services bank statements from my personal checking account from XX/XX/year> until XX/XX/year>, showing that XXXX consistently deducted {$160.00} each month until XX/XX/year>, when they suddenly deducted {$540.00}. ( Please see attachments ). This was to prove that my debt was not from unpaid premiums, and that I canceled my policy due to an unauthorized increase. Again, I asked for details on the debt because I do not owe this debt. I received a letter from Credit Collection Services in XX/XX/year>, saying that I owe the debt but they still gave no details on what the debt was from. They increased the amount back to {$540.00}. I have asked Credit Collection Services multiple times for details regarding this debt that I do not owe, but they refuse to provide me with any details!
