Hello. A few months ago I opened a savings account with Amex. Thought it was good account so I deposited my work check into my account. Not even a week later they close my account and tell me they will not release my money back to me in a check. Which is their legal obligation as a bank. They can not keep funds that dont belong to them. They tell me I need to have the issuer write me a new check but the issuer is unwilling because the check was already cashed and gone through. The money was in my available balance upon closure but is apparently unable to be returned to me. I have tried to work it out with the bank and the issuer and have not had any luck. Its a lot of money.
