Credit Karma locked my savings account each time I made a deposit and then refused to unlock it even after providing all required verification ( they required a copy of my drivers license and a photo of me with it, which really seems like overkill for just depositing a small amount of money into an account that I own and have established as mine repeatedly in the past ). When they locked it, they would send an email with detailed but incorrect instructions on how to navigate their phone tree in order to speak with a person to verify the account was mine. When I did finally get to a person, they would say they still couldn't unlock the account because I hadn't provided the required verification ( despite having done so multiple times ). I was finally able to get my account unlocked when I told them that what they are doing is illegal and I would be filing a complaint with the CFPB. After that, I did not receive any responses to my emails and suddenly the account was unlocked, even though I hadn't tried to again provide the documentation they claimed they hadn't received and that would be required. I have since closed my account, but restricting access to needed funds for absolutely no reason and then making it impossible to unlock the account without threatening to report you to the government is not an acceptable way to handle people 's money. I'd like to additionally note that I was always refused any information. They would not tell me why the account had been locked, they would not tell me how to avoid it happening in the future, and they would not even say what kinds of transactions would theoretically trigger an account to be locked. Again this happened repeatedly.
