Consumer Narrative
At the end of XXXX, XXXX. I had decided it was time to purchase another vehicle. My current vehicle was a XXXX XXXX XXXX I had owned for 3 years and NEVER missed a payment. The XXXX payment was due on XX/XX/XXXX. I decided to hold off on making the payment since I more than likely would be purchasing another vehicle. I also realized that if I didnt find a vehicle before the XXXX that I would just make the XXXX payment. I knew it had to be before 30 days to avoid a mark on my credit score. I traded-in my XXXX XXXX XXXX, which has been financed by San Diego County Credit Union XXXXXXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX. I specially asked my Sales Rep, XXXX if I should make the payment. She said it wasnt necessary as XXXX had already included the full payoff amount in the check that would send to SDCCU. With that, I signed all the appropriate documents released the legal responsibility to XXXX and dropped the XXXX from my insurance. I thought everything was fine until about a month later I received an alert from XXXX stating that my score had dropped XXXX XXXX due to a 30 day late on my XXXX XXXX XXXX. I immediately went to the Credit Union thinking that someones in the branch would be able to quickly resolve the issueI was wrong. They said I had to write a letter to the credit department explaining my situation and provide documentation. I was very frustrated and disappointed that there was even a phone number or point of contact or anyone I could directly speak with. So, I did as they instructed and provided copies of the loan documents and all the paperwork showing that I no longer owned the XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX which was 6 days prior to the 30 day window. Within a few weeks I received a letter stating that they would not makes any correction unless I provided more information. They never stated what else they needed. My thought was, what else do you need when you can clearly see when I traded in the vehicle? With no one to speak with I went back to the Credit Union and again was told there was nothing they could do. Im so frustrated and disappointed as I had been a good customer and tried to do the right, and again, I HAD NEVER MISSED A PAYMENT. It would nave zero sense to fumble the last payment on the loan prior the trade-in, and damage my credit. I am requesting your help to have my credit reports corrected to reflect the paid off status and the removal of the late payment. I truly hope you can help me with this matter. Best regards.
