I have always been on autopay with my Capital One credit cards. When I reviewed a recent statement it said if I raised my minimum I could save on interest and it would lower how long it would take to pay down my balance. I canceled the autopay series to set up a new one as you can not edit but need to cancel and start a new one. The system offered me to either make monthly payments or every two weeks, I chose the 2 week option as that would help even further by taking out smaller amount bi-weekly vs once per month. I set it all up and on my next statement I noticed a {$29.00} late payment fee. I called Capital One to inquire why the fee and was advised that my autopay was short. After some back and forth I was advised that on their end they do not have an option for payment every 2 weeks only monthly and that the days I chose for payments would always make them incorrect and I would continue to incur these late fees. I asked that they credit me back the late fee as I have never been late and thus have never asked for a fee credit. I was told NO, I asked to speak with a supervisor XXXX who also informed me that they would NOT credit me back the fee. I explained to her that their system on auto-pay did not issue a warning that If i continued with the dates I chose that I would incur this fee, If I would have been made aware by the system I would have chosen dates for the payments that fit into the billing. The Capital One system does notify you if you chose to pay on the monthly option. I requested an email to someone above her that could give me a reason why the credit could not be issued and was advised thst there is no email I could send to anyone. I requested to mske sure the call was recorded to provide further details if needed and was advised all calls were recorded.
