Consumer Narrative
I am filing a complaint against TransUnion for failing to conduct a proper investigation into my disputes. Despite multiple attempts to resolve inaccuracies on my credit report, TransUnion has failed to respond appropriately. I sent my first dispute letter on XX/XX/year>, via USPS certified mail ( tracking number XXXX ), disputing inaccurate personal information and accounts. I included the following documents to verify my identity : -A copy of my government-issued ID -A copy of my Social Security card -A recent bill showing my current address However, I did not receive any response. I sent a second dispute letter on XX/XX/year>, also with no response or investigation results. In a final attempt, I sent a third dispute letter on XX/XX/year>. On XX/XX/year>, TransUnion responded, claiming : " We recently received a request that included your information, but it didn't appear that you or a properly authorized third party sent it to us. We take the privacy and security of your data very seriously, so we won't process requests unless they come directly from you or an authorized third party. '' This response is perplexing and unfounded, as all correspondence was sent directly by me with the necessary supporting documents. TransUnion 's actionsor lack thereofconstitute a violation of the Fair Credit Reporting Act ( FCRA ), which mandates a reasonable reinvestigation of disputed information. Their failure to investigate, baseless accusation of unauthorized third-party involvement, and lack of response to my initial disputes are clear breaches of my consumer rights. I am including the following as evidence to support my complaint : -Copies of my original dispute letters sent to TransUnion XXXXTransUnions response letter dated XX/XX/scrub> XXXX XXXX XXXX
