Consumer Narrative

I am submitting this complaint against TransUnion for retaining unauthorized inquiries on my credit report, which I did not initiate or authorize. Upon reviewing my credit report, I identified the following inquiries that lack my consent : XXXX Date of Inquiry : XX/XX/XXXXXXXX XXXX Date of Inquiry : XX/XX/XXXX I contacted these creditors directly, and they confirmed that they do not have any record of my authorization, either written or verbal, for these inquiries. Despite this, TransUnion has failed to remove these inquiries from my report, thereby damaging my creditworthiness. Violations of the Fair Credit Reporting Act ( FCRA ) : Unauthorized Inquiries ( FCRA, Section 604 - 15 U.S.C. 1681b ) Under Section 604 of the FCRA, credit reporting agencies are only permitted to include inquiries that have a legitimate business need and verifiable consumer authorization. Since no authorization or permissible purpose exists, these inquiries should be removed from my report immediately. Failure to Remove Unverifiable Information ( FCRA, Section 611 ( a ) ( 5 ) ( A ) - 15 U.S.C. 1681i ) Section 611 ( a ) ( 5 ) ( A ) of the FCRA states that any information disputed by a consumer that is determined to be inaccurate, incomplete, or unverifiable must be deleted promptly after investigation. TransUnions retention of these inquiries without proper verification is a direct violation of this provision. Verification Requirements ( FCRA, Section 609 ( a ) ( 1 ) ( A ) - 15 U.S.C. 1681g ) Section 609 ( a ) ( 1 ) ( A ) mandates that each inquiry included in a credit report be backed by a verifiable original consumer contract with my signature. Without such proof, any inquiry lacking my consent should be promptly removed to ensure compliance with the FCRA. Impact on My Financial Standing : The presence of these unauthorized inquiries on my credit report is unjustly lowering my credit score and limiting my access to credit. This is causing harm to my financial reputation and impacting my ability to conduct personal business effectively. Sincerely, XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX
