On XX/XX/XXXX. I was in the process of buying a house, and after getting the closing going, I was informed that I had a collection for {$750.00}. I was blindsided by the information, as I had no collections at the time of the application or in the home buying process. I contacted FAO on XX/XX/XXXX. I mailed a debt validation letter to FAI, disputing a collection account on my credit report. FAI had already placed a collection on my credit report without prior verifying the debt. The mailed a letter to an address that was not associated with me and expected me to acknowledge the letter when I never got knew about the collection or had time to validate the debt or respond. I sent them a debt valid letter they ignored me and placed the item on my credit report. I am seeking the firm to be held liable to the FCRA law, and the fact that this is a clear violation of the FCRA Law- 15 U.S.C. 1692 If the collector gets a notice that the letter or message was undeliverable, the collector can't report the debt to the credit reporting agencies unless it achieves communication as detailed above. ( 12 C.F.R. 1006.30 ( a ) ( 1 ) and Official Interpretation of 30 ( a ) ( 1 ) ). Effective XX/XX/XXXX, an amendment to Regulation F, which implements the FDCPA, says that a debt collector can't report a debt to the three major credit reporting agencies, XXXX, XXXX, and XXXX, before first contacting the consumer.
