XX/XX/year> XXXX XXXX State of Connecticut Office of the Attorney General XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX, CT XXXX Re : Equifax Consumer Credit Reporting Agency Dear XXXX XXXX, I am contacting your office regarding the inadequate online security of Equifax consumer reporting agency. Equifax is knowingly not protecting consumers in that they have no multi factor / 2 Factor authentication protecting their websites. Any bad actor could simply log in with a user ID and password with no further verification. A credit freeze can be lifted or confidential and sensitive information can be obtained to steal an identity. Equifax has had many IT breaches in recent years and user ID and passwords are easily available for many consumers. The irony is that Equifax offers and supposedly specializes in identity protection. Its insane that this protection has not been implemented on their own websites. They have a much higher standard to meet in protecting consumers accounts given their IT breaches and the very sensitive information they warehouse. Even XXXX now has multifactor authentication on their website. I have contacted Equifax via the XXXX ( Case # XXXX ) and I just receive non-sensical responses from a XXXX XXXX of their customer care team. I have contacted their call center and likewise they are uniformed as well. I ask that your office investigate this serious lax of security. Im taken aback as to how a multibillion-dollar organization, who is supposed to specialize in identity security and protection, could fail so miserably in protecting the actual consumer. Both XXXX and XXXX have this additional protection in place. This should not be optional for Equifax. Thank You, XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX Equifax Chief Info and Security/Tech Officer XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX GA XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX Equifax XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX GA XXXX CFPB Consumer Financial Protection Bureau XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX, DC XXXX XXXX
