I am submitting this complaint due to the fact that I have been a victim of identity theft. I have made attempts to show Equifax that I was incarcerated when the fraud was initiated on XX/XX/year>. I have contacted Equifax about removing the fraudulent information, but they refused even when I submitted proof showing that I was incarcerated. Under 15 U.S.C. 1681 : General provisions and definitions 15 U.S.C. 1681e ( b ) : Compliance procedures 15 U.S.C. 1681s-2 : Responsibilities of furnishers of information 15 U.S.C. 1681i ( a ) ( 5 ) : Reinvestigations of disputed information Disputed Information : " XXXX XXXX '' ACCT # XXXX I found the following inaccurate and fraudulent information : Credit Reporting agency : Equifax Reasons for Dispute : Inaccurate Reporting : Under 15 U.S.C. 1681e ( b ), it is required that credit reporting agencies maintain maximum possible accuracy. The listed items do not meet this criterion. Obligations of Furnishers : As per 15 U.S.C. 1681s-2, the furnishers of this information are required to report accurate data. Their failure to do so necessitates the deletion of these entries. Reinvestigation Requirement : In accordance with 15 U.S.C. 1681i ( a ) ( 5 ), I am requesting a reinvestigation of these entries and their subsequent deletion. These accounts aren't paid late accounts or derogatory accounts either! Equifax is reporting inaccurate information I want my accounts updated correctly on my credit report
