I had a TD business credit card for a small business I owned. In XXXXXXXX XXXX XXXX I closed the card and had a XXXX balance. Several months later there was a charge allowed to be made on that card by TD Bank. The account was no longer open at the time the charge was made. I no longer had access to the account. I contacted TD Bank several times and had to drill down through automated systems to get to an actual person, and then after many conversations being switched to other people in their system I finally agreed to pay the balance to avoid getting a blemish on my credit report. But they reported this to the credit bureaus anyway. This is a very bad practice allowing a charge to be made on a credit card that was closed. They should have refused the charge and it would have been up to the company trying to make the charge to contact me for another means of payment. If the card had expired, TD Bank would not have let the charge go through, so how is this any different.
