On XX/XX/XXXX, I received multiple calls from various area code XXXX numbers that I couldn't answer, but no messages were left. While I was in my car, another call came in and I answered it. The caller asked for XXXX XXXX and I said " this is she ''. The person stated she was calling from TransWorld Systems Inc on a recorded line. I said " Ok? '' She then asked me to confirm my address or birthdate before she would tell me why she was calling. I asked why she was calling and she said it was to collect a debt owed to XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX. I asked for what and when and she told me " I don't know, it's for your medical care, you should know. '' I said I hadn't been treated at a XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX since 40 years ago. She said I needed to confirm my address first. I asked when and she said she needed me to confirm the address on XXXX XXXX. I was shocked and said " in XXXX? I haven't lived at that address for 35 years! '' I gave my current address and then said my name is XXXX XXXX XXXX and started to spell it- she interrupted and said she had the wrong person because the middle initial was " XXXX '' - she then hung up. I drove to my destination and became more suspicious - my birth middle name starts with an M, but I hadn't had that as a legal name since XXXX. I wondered if it was a scam. I searched the name TransWorld Systems online and saw it was a debt collection agency. I also found the Consent Decree entered against the company in XXXX for unfair and false debt collection. I checked my call log on my phone and called multiple numbers. Each answered with a recording for TransWorld Systems and said to press 1 to speak with a representative. On the 3d or 4th one, I pressed 1 and was immediately connected to a representative. She asked for my date of birth so I gave it to her ( XX/XX/XXXX ). She immediately told me she was calling to collect a debt for XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX for {$120.00} and asked me if I was paying by check, credit or debit. I asked when I had received care at XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX and she said the Date of Service was XX/XX/XXXX. I said that was impossible and I had not received any care at that hospital in nearly 40 years and definitely not in XXXX of this year. I asked that she mail me proof of the debt/invoice and she told me I needed to dispute the debt first before she could send me anything, and that I would only get the records if I disputed the debt. I said I was not going to dispute anything without first seeing an invoice for the care. She stated again that it was {$120.00} and date of service was on XX/XX/XXXX. The representative then told me they had mailed me a letter on XX/XX/XXXX. She put me on hold for awhile and then came back and said the letter was actually returned on XX/XX/XXXX, but had been mailed to me on XX/XX/XXXX. She then said she could see that it was returned due to a wrong address. I asked what address and she said she couldn't see that in her materials, so she put me on hold again. When she got back on the line, she said the address was XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX. I told her I had never lived at that address but had lived at XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX again, nearly 40 years ago. I told the representative that I know she is just an employee who needs a paycheck and was being told to collect this alleged debt, but that it was false and fraudulent and that she should find new employment. I also gave her the CFPB Case number from XXXX where her employer was ordered to stop using unlawful practices to collect false debts.
