Dear CFPB, I am writing to formally file a dispute regarding an account in collections that is listed on my credit report. The account in question is with Jefferson Capital. I cant remember who they said the original creditor was, I think XXXX or XXXX. I have XXXX XXXX though. When I saw it on my XXXX XXXX report, I disputed it and specifically asked for a copy of the original bill or detailed documentation related to the debt. However, the collection agency only responded with a statement claiming that the debt is accurate without providing the documentation I requested. And now on XXXX XXXX it says No Info for Original Creditor name and Type and even Closed Date. I feel like I am entitled to validation of the debt, including documentation showing the original details of the bill. I dont know what I own for. Since I have not received the requested documents, I believe the collection agency has not fulfilled its legal obligations to verify the debt.
