I am cosigned on a loan that my cousin has for his truck. My credit score dipped so I checked my credit report and it said that he had missed a payment in XXXX of 2024. I thought maybe he just missed a payment, but it happened again in XXXX of 2024. We took a look and it stated that both of the payments were 30 days late, however the payments were coming out of his account, the same amount that had been paid every month since he has had the vehicle. I got a mail in the letter that said the truck was going to be repoed if we did not resolve this, so we called XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX, who the loan is through. After explaining the situation, they said that it was because they were charging him an extra fee for not having insurance on the vehicle when he first bought it, which we fully understand. However, they said that they were not taking the money out of the account because they sent an email for us to sign in order for them to take the money out, which neither of us received, rather than taking the money out of the account that they have full access to. Furthermore, they did not make any more effort to contact us such as a phone call or mail to get the signature that they say that they needed. My credit score has dropped over XXXX points due to this communication issue, and I find that hardly fair. I attached documentation that shows the original payment amount as well as the money coming out of his account on the months that it says were late.
