Hi, Two weeks ago, I noticed a bad decrease in my credit report. When I checked it was from Genesis Credit Management ( Columbia Debt Recovery ) regarding my past balance from XXXX XXXX XXXX in XXXX. After I disputed and that's when I received an email from this collector company on XX/XX/year>, asked me to pay a payment of {$120.00}. XXXX I mention I moved out XXXX years ago, and never I ever received any approved final invoice from them to notify me about this charge? They would go straight ahead and affect someone's credit without considering legal procedures. I have read all the reviews from this company and I see that many people experienced such a horrific problem as us. I decided to give them a call and that when I was told the past balance was for utility and paint damages, BUT we never pay the preserve any electricity bill, we used the third party company which all renters do. Before moved out, we requested multiple maintenance services which included paint touch up, the apartment deleted all those requests without our knowledge. We did ask them about that, and their response was " We always do paint touch-ups before new residents move in any way, so I do not have to request to get that done before I move out ''. The past balance is not a huge amount, I would not mind paying it even though I do not believe we owe them any utility bills. But I see that many people have experienced the same situation as us and they were verbally abused and disrespectfully treated while they tried to solve this matter. Somebody needs to do something about this, one of the reviews did recommend that we should voice our concern to the cfpb so here I am. AGAIN, they would blankly affect many people 's credit so they can get the money that they want and that is not fair to us hard-working people who would work so hard to maintain a good credit report. I hope cfpb can look into this and resolve this matter so no one can be affected by this company. No one deserves this and no one should be treated this way. After reading all the reviews about this company, I know that I am not alone. I understand why so many people were so afraid to raise their voice due to financial matters to hire lawyer/attorney to help them, so all they can do is expressed their unfair frustration feeling on the review section.
