I've been receiving many emails from Capital One about opening new checking/banking accounts to my email, but the emails are addressed to other individual names ( multiple accounts, multiple different names ) including their new bank accounts. Then within a week or so of these emails starting, I receive a Capital One debit card in the mail at my home address with my name on it. I reported an alert thru my XXXX identity theft insurance who connected me to Capital One to explain what I was experiencing. When given my personal information they could see my info was used to open a number of accounts. I asked if the accounts were opened using multiple individuals information, and any question I asked regarding the new accounts the said they could not give me ANY information, even though it was my information used to open the accounts without me knowing. They assured me that the account in my name ( the card I received in the mail, the one I never received an email about opening ) will be closed and I would not be liable, but when asked about the other accounts I'm getting emails about attached to my information, they said they will flag them and look into it.
