In XX/XX/year>, I applied for a XXXX XXXX XXXX which was issued through Comenity Capital Bank XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXXXXXX XXXX XXXX. I charged a portion of my upcoming vacation ( at the end of XXXX ) and paid the balance in full on XX/XX/year> ( the amount was {$8500.00} and check number was XXXX ). I checked my banking a week later as I knew the bill was due on XX/XX/XXXX and noticed that the check wasn't cashed. When I called XXXX they reassured me that they would take care of it in time and advised me to call back by the end of the week ( XX/XX/XXXX ). When I expressed my concern that there would not be enough time for my balance to be clear and still be able to use my card, they again reassured me that there would not be a problem. I monitored my banking but realized that they still hadn't cashed my check, and the due date had come and gone. I called back on XX/XX/XXXX and made a minimum payment ( {$86.00} ) as I was going to XXXX in a few days and wanted to use the card I asked to speak with a supervisor. He took a report and gave me the confirmation number of XXXX. My call was abruptly disconnected, and he never got back to me. On XX/XX/XXXX, I put a stop payment on the check with my bank. When I went to use my card in XXXX, I was unable to do so and called them again and they stated I was unable to use my card because I put a stop payment on the check which was their policy. I paid the entire balance off in XXXX ( {$8900.00} ) but noticed that I incurred a finance charge ( {$130.00} ), an interest charge ( {$110.00} ) and a cancelled check fee ( {$30.00} ). I called back again on XX/XX/year> and the person taking my complaint claimed she would take the report and send it " upstairs '' for review. However, I never heard back from anyone any of the times I contacted them. I also requested to have my Rewards Balance of {$270.00} refunded to me but she claimed her system was down and wouldn't be able to process it. She also said that I was unable to use my card for 90 days because of the stop payment I put on my original check. I firmly believe that this company is engaging in deceptive and unfair practices and using punitive interest fees and late fees to make an extra charge. Moreover, none of my questions were ever answered satisfactorily, no supervisor from the company ever got back to me ( except to state that they were not excusing the stop check fee ( Which they charged me twice for! ) I was counting on using the card in XXXX so as to not incur additional fees ( which they advertised and was told when I applied for the card ). I was unable to do so and feel that this company ripped me off as this is considered commonplace for them.
