I entered into a repayment plan with XXXX XXXX as part of an agreement to bring the amount due to XXXX. The payments were done monthly as a agreed via my XXXX Account. In total the agreement was 48 monthly payments. XXXX payments later, or XXXX months before the account was to be paid full, I received notice that my account was now in collections. I contacted XXXX XXXX and indicated that I was just XXXX months away from paying the account off in full, and they agreed by phone to continue accepting the payments and then to report it as such-and in good standing. I noticed on my credit report that it has been listed as settle for less than paid in full, last month. I contacted XXXX XXXX to inform them the account was paid in full as agreed and the representative told me she would update the account accordingly. I also filed a dispute with the XXXX credit bureaus regarding the incorrect reporting by XXXX XXXX. Now on my credit report is has been updated to a charge off. When I paid as agreed. Have proof of payments via my XXXX statements, and an email from XXXX XXXX indicating successful receipt of payments. It's unfortunate and disappointing how XXXX XXXX went about doing business. Even more so, to lead clients on regarding payment plans and credit reporting when done as agreed to then give the harshest report when it was repaid as agreed. It is not worth the effort to negotiate a full repayment with XXXX XXXX if as agreed it is identified as a charge off. It's best to not repay, let it go to collections and then offer to settle at pennies on the dollar-for the impact a full repayment plan listed as charge off can impact your credit report.
