This debt stems from the IRS. IRS contracted with the company XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX. In XXXX I owed {$430.00}. I didn't pay the debt until XX/XX/XXXX. Since I didn't know what the interest that would be charged on {$430.00} so I paid {$500.00} figuring it would cover the amount due. The IRS claims I never paid my debt and so for two years the amount of {$430.00} had been steadily increasing. The IRS wouldn't return calls or letters. The IRS contracted with XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX to collect the debt. On XX/XX/XXXX I sent a letter to XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX, including letters from the IRS 's own debt collectors proving I had paid. My bank sent a letter with documentation that I paid. I sent in a copy of the IRS 's Direct Pay that showed I paid. When I contact XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX -- every representative has a different way of interpreting the documents. 99 % have indicated I have sent the correct info to prove that I paid this debt, but the XXXX I spoke with today, indicated that SHE BELIEVES I still owe an additional {$490.00}! I asked what that was for and she said penalties. I asked what sort of penalties and she said she didn't know. I want the IRS to look at the documentation, admit they are wrong, and stop bothering me with debt collectors.
